To operate the convertible top of the Ford Mustang, first turn on the engine or switch the key to the "on" position. Find the central lever at the front of the car's roof. Pull down the sturdy lever and twist it to the right or clockwise until it clicks. Use the overhead dashboard button with the Mustang symbol to lift the top by holding down the "up" arrow. As the top folds back and tucks into the rear seating and cargo space, the side windows will automatically lower. To close the top, push the "down" arrow until the lid shuts, then turn the lever to the left or counter-clockwise until it clicks securely into position.
To put the roof down on a Ford Mustang convertible, make sure the car is stopped with the engine running. Next, release the top from the front windshield frame and hold down the switch located on the ceiling console until the top fully retracts.
