To reset the theft deterrent system on your 2017 Cadillac XTS, you can use your keyless remote to unlock the doors by pressing the "Unlock" button, which is symbolized by an open lock. Another method is to unlock the doors using the original key and then turning on the car ignition. These are the only two manual options for disarming the alarm; any other attempts to unlock the doors will not be effective. Once you have exited the car and left the door open, use the lock switch from inside the car to secure the doors, ensuring all other entry points like the trunk, hood, and lift gate are closed. If any of these areas remain open, the alarm system will not reset. Close the door and wait for the security light inside the car to stop flashing. Alternatively, you can close all the doors first and then press the "Lock" button on the keyless remote to pre-arm the theft-deterrent alarm system. Failure to open the doors or press the unlock button on the keyless remote within 10 seconds will activate the armed stage of the theft system.
