To reboot the security system in a Toyota Tacoma using a simple, DIY approach, you will require a paper clip and around thirty minutes. Bend the paper clip into a tight U shape and insert both ends into the S4 and 13 holes of the OBD-2 port located underneath the driver's side dash. Turn the key to the ON position and keep it there for half an hour. Once the time has elapsed, switch off the ignition and remove the paper clip. You should now be able to start the engine and the security light on the dashboard will be turned off. This method comes in handy, particularly after replacing the ECU and needing to reprogram the alarm system.
To reset the alarm on a Toyota Tacoma, just put the key in the ignition and switch it between the "run" and "off" positions five times, then start the car on the sixth try.
