Depending on the setup of your 2009 Honda CR-V, you will reset the oil life light using either a button on the instrument cluster or the steering wheel. If your vehicle has steering wheel controls, you should first turn the ignition to on without starting the engine. Press the "i" button on the wheel to access Maintenance Minder with a wrench icon. Highlight and select Enter, then hold Enter for about 10 seconds to enter Reset Mode. Scroll to Engine Oil Life, select Enter, and follow the prompts. If your car does not have steering wheel controls, turn the ignition to on and press the Trip stem on the instrument cluster. Once you see Engine Oil Life, hold the stem for about 10 seconds until it blinks. Use the Trip stem to choose Reset, then hold it again for 5 seconds. The oil life should reset to 100%. After completing these steps, turn the ignition off and start the vehicle to ensure the reset is successful.
I don't have the Info button on my steering wheel, but I found a way to check and reset the Oil Life display. By holding down the Select button for 10 seconds and then turning the Select knob until only "Oil Life" is flashing, I was able to view the current oil life reading. Pressing Select again will allow me to reset the Oil Life reading by pressing and holding the Select button.
To clear the oil life indicator on the 2009 Honda CR-V, start the car and press the reset or select button for ten seconds. Let go, then press and hold for another five seconds.
