To reset the oil light on a 2012 Subaru Impreza, access the menu on the main console dashboard. Navigate to the maintenance section, then choose oil. Scroll down to select reset and confirm the action. Upon doing this, the light will turn off. If the light indicates the need for an oil change, it must be done to prevent the light from coming back on. When changing the oil in the car, ensure the vehicle has been parked and turned off for a couple of hours to allow the oil to cool. Locate the oil pan and drain plug in the engine compartment. Position a bucket beneath the plug, remove it, and allow the oil to drain completely. Replace the plug once draining is complete. Next, find the intake port on top of the oil pan and use a funnel to refill the oil to the full level, taking care not to overfill. A slightly underfilled level is acceptable, but overfilling can cause leaks and oil burn-off. After refilling, close the port, clean up any spilled oil, and the process is complete.
