To reset the oil light in a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek, check out this video: https://www.Youtube.com/watch?v=mCT-tZ6GVAA It's important to change your oil regularly, typically every 5,000 to 10,000 miles. Neglecting to do so can lead to engine issues. Using high-quality oil is crucial for optimal engine performance. Problems can arise if the oil is not maintained, such as a strong burning smell. Address any issues promptly to avoid potential car trouble like engine failure or even an explosion. Old or low-quality oil can cause engine knocking noises and reduce gas mileage.
To clear the oil level alert or maintenance light in your 2019 Subaru Crosstrek, switch your ignition to the "on" position and press the gas pedal gently three times. After doing this, start your car and the oil light should show that it has been reset.
I wanted to share my recent experience dealing with oil change issues on my 2019 Crosstrek Premium model. First, I attempted to reset the Oil Change warning myself after completing the first oil change at 5886 miles. However, I couldn't find the procedure in the manual and my car's setup didn't have the typical reset button on the steering wheel. Despite exceeding the 6000-mile interval without receiving any warning messages, I learned from a forum that my car might not have the necessary warning system. I was disappointed that Subaru didn't provide this information in the manual.
Secondly, I carefully inspected the old oil plug crush washer and noticed that the flat side should be facing the oil pan instead of the oil plug, contrary to what other users on the Subaru forums suggested. I'm not sure if this detail is important, but it's worth noting.
Lastly, I struggled with the factory-installed oil filter which was extremely tight. I had to use a ring-shaped oil filter clamp removal tool and almost damaged it in the process. I hope these insights are helpful for anyone attempting a DIY oil change. Good luck with your own oil change!
