While the anti-theft system in the 2011 Ford Escape is meant to prevent theft, there are instances where it may act up and need to be reset. Always ensure the battery is fully charged before attempting to reset the system, as the vehicle won't start otherwise. To reset the system, first try starting the vehicle. If it fails to start, turn the key back one position to ON, making sure the radio and instrument cluster lights are on. Keep the key in the ON position for at least 10 minutes. If the light has turned off, turn the ignition off and try starting the engine. If it starts, the system has been successfully reset; otherwise, you may need to repeat the process, which may take up to three attempts. In some cases, you can also try disconnecting the positive battery cable, turning the key to ON, reconnecting the cable, and then testing the vehicle by turning the key off and attempting to start it.

To reset the anti-theft on a 2011 Ford Escape, first disconnect the positive cable from the battery. Next, insert the key into the car and turn it to the on position. Then reconnect the positive cable. Turn the key off and then back on. This should reset the anti-theft system.

When my 2011 Ford Escape activates its theft mode, I simply shift it into Neutral, then back into Park, and repeat this process until it unlocks.

Installed a new cluster, but encountered numerous issues with two programmed keys. Somehow, one key's program went missing, leading to over $3,000 spent in unsuccessful attempts to resolve the problem. It seems insurmountable, so I've reached a decision to stop investing more money into fixing it. I'm opting to sell off the truck instead.
