On the 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche, there's no easy way to reset the engine control module (ECM), which is what is typically referred to as the "computer." To perform a thorough reset, you will have to disconnect the negative battery cable for at least 15 minutes with the headlight switch turned on. When you reconnect the negative terminal, power will be restored and the ECM should be reset. Some technicians suggest an alternative method involving a total power discharge. They advise turning on the headlight switch and waiting to ensure that any remaining charge is dissipated from the internal capacitor, which may still hold some power even with the battery disconnected. These technicians also mention the option of briefly connecting both terminals to speed up the process, but opinions on this vary. If you're not pressed for time, it's advisable to stick with the first method.
Disconnect the negative battery cable. Activate the headlight switch, keep it on for 10 minutes, then switch it off.
That seems accurate to me 👍
