Taking out the gear shifter in a 2010 Ford Explorer is a simple task once you understand the process. To start, gather screwdrivers and non-marring pry tools. Begin by using a non-marring pry tool to detach the head of the shifter from its base where it links to the gear mechanism. This will allow you to reach the metal pins holding the assembly in place. Then, utilize a small screwdriver to push out the metal pins and separate the assembly from the rest of the shifter boot.
