The 2019 Ford Fusion's stop-start feature is designed to save fuel and reduce emissions by shutting off the engine when the car is stopped. If the outside temperatures are too high or if the engine needs cooling, the auto stop-start function will turn off automatically. Normally, a car will be turned off around 50,000 times in its lifetime, but with auto stop-start technology, this number can increase to over 500,000 times. The battery needs to be strong enough to handle this frequent on-and-off cycle. To manually deactivate the feature, you can press the button at the bottom of the shifter in the center console. This button will have an "A" inside a semi-circle and must be pressed each time you enter the vehicle to keep the feature off.
In the 2019 Ford Fusion, the auto-start stop feature must be turned off by pressing the auto-start stop button manually at least once during the drive.
