To upgrade the navigation system on a 2013 Toyota Highlander, start by logging in to the Map Update Toolbox. Look for a button on the left menu - if there's no update currently, it will say "Device." If there is an update available, it will say "Updates." Choose UPDATES, if it's there. (IMPORTANT: Read the entire "PLEASE NOTE" section before starting.) Click on INSTALL to begin. You might be wondering about the significance of a navigation system. Essentially, its purpose is to assist drivers in navigating from a starting point to a desired destination. Drivers input the address of their intended location to use the system effectively.
To upgrade the navigation system in a 2013 Toyota Highlander, simply swap out the old GPS disc for a new one. The system will then automatically update itself.
In 2012, the Highlander model used a Map CD for updates, while the 2013 version with Entune required a Flashdrive connected to the USB port. In 2014, the Highlander switched to using an SD Card for updates instead.
