Starting the Q5 with the key fob is a process that varies depending on the manufacturing year. In older Audis, you have to insert the key into a slot on the dashboard and push it while pressing the brake pedal to start the engine, similar to pushing a start/stop button. However, in newer models, you simply place the fob over a key symbol with lines on the dashboard or center console. In the 2018 Q5, this symbol is found on the first cupholder of the center console. To start the engine, put the fob in the cupholder, push the start/stop button on the dashboard, and press the brake pedal. For 2019 models, the symbol is placed inside the center console storage area.
To activate an Audi Q5 using a dead key fob, place the fob directly onto the start/stop button.
Is it possible to start an Audi Q5 using a key inside the fob rather than using the push button?
Sorry, I am unable to do that.
