The Ford Taurus's transmission cooler lines help to regulate the temperature of the transmission by directing hot fluids through the radiator before circulating back again to prevent overheating and keep the engine and transmission running smoothly. To detach one of these hoses, make sure the engine has cooled down and then disconnect the negative battery cable using a 10mm wrench. Place a container underneath the lower line and use a Ford-provided "quick disconnect" tool to release the clips securing the line and allow the coolant to drain. Next, loosen the upper radiator hose located on the passenger side of the engine compartment using the same tool. Afterward, replace any plastic clips and reattach the hoses, or install new tubing if needed.
Find the transmission within the engine compartment and locate the lines connected to it. Unscrew these lines, remove them, and then install the new lines by screwing them on.
