Activating the 4-wheel drive on a Kia Sportage is a straightforward process that will require about 4 to 8 minutes of your time. To begin, head over to the driver's side of the vehicle and hop inside. Shift the car into neutral or park using the gear shifter and step on the brake pedal. Then, firmly switch the transfer case stick shift to the 4X4 position. Your Kia Sportage is now ready to roll in 4-wheel drive mode.
To activate the 4-wheel drive system in the Kia Sportage, the driver must switch the transfer case to 4-wheel drive mode and choose between high or low-range gearing. Next, the driver should flip the switch to engage the vacuum control lever, link the vacuum to the front lock hubs, and connect it to the drive axles.
If you accidentally drive in the wrong mode, for example, with the power light on the dashboard illuminated, but you keep driving without changing modes while on the highway, the car will still operate smoothly.
