Chevy Volt owners have raised concerns about the challenges they face when trying to shut the hood of their car. The hood often requires being dropped from a height to latch properly, creating safety and convenience issues. The standard method should involve releasing the cover from 12-14 inches away from the latch, allowing it to automatically engage and lock securely with a firm press. If the hood closure is faulty, it may be caused by defective rubber bump stops or a loose latch assembly. Another common reason for difficulty in latching the Volt's hood is a misaligned primary hood release cable. To address this problem, the cable may need to be repositioned to ensure that the latch catches correctly.
Lower the raised support bar and gently push it down until it clicks into place.
I appreciate it, I couldn't get the hood to close so I attempted the 3-foot drop method, and it finally latched. I doubt I'll ever purchase another Chevrolet again.
