In your 2016 Honda Civic, the immobilizer is designed to prevent theft by locking the ignition when the vehicle is secured. To reset the immobilizer, you can follow these steps: press and hold the panic button on your key fob for five seconds, then press the lock button twice. Allow the car to remain locked for at least ten minutes before pressing the unlock button to reset the immobilizer and start the vehicle again.
Typically, car makers prevent the vehicle from starting if the panic button is pressed. To deactivate the immobilizer, press the panic button for five seconds. Then, press the lock button twice and stay at least ten feet away from the car for ten minutes.
