How do you unlock the hood of a Mercedes ML350?

To pop the hood on your Mercedes ML350, first park the car on a flat surface and engage the parking brake. Pull the hood release handle located underneath the left side of the dashboard. This will release the hood slightly. Then, move the hood latch lever from under the front edge of the hood to the middle and lift the hood up. You can let go of the lever once the hood is raised a bit. Take out the support rod from its holder by gripping it, and secure the rod in place on the hood. To close the hood, detach the support rod and store it back in its holder. Gently lower the hood until it's about 12 inches (30 cm) from being fully closed, then release it and allow it to shut on its own.
