In the 2005 Ford Expedition, there are dual catalytic converters located on both the left and right sides. While replacing these converters can be costly, having two has been proven to lessen the vehicle's impact on the environment. Some argue that this setup is crucial for the '05 Expedition. Like all vehicles, the exhaust system might need maintenance, and owners of older models like the 2005 might be tempted to remove one or both of the catalytic converters, known as "straight piping." However, this is strongly advised against due to the harmful environmental consequences. It is also important to note that in states with inspection requirements, removing catalytic converters will result in an automatic failure.
