There's just one catalytic converter in the 2008 Honda Ridgeline, which works to clean the exhaust gas by removing harmful heavy metals before they are released into the air. Over time, the converter can get blocked, which limits airflow in the exhaust and leads to decreased engine performance. A common reason for catalytic failure is when the engine runs too rich and dumps excess fuel into the exhaust. If you notice a strong sulfur odor in your exhaust fumes, it's a sign that the catalytic converter may need to be replaced. In addition to diminished engine performance, another sign of a faulty converter is dark smoke coming out of the tailpipe.
There are a total of three, with one located on each side of the engine serving as both the exhaust manifolds, and an additional one further downstream following the y pipe.
The 2008 Honda Ridgeline has a single catalytic converter installed.
