The 2016 GMC Yukon equipped with the 6.2-liter V8 engine requires 8 quarts of oil. The recommended type by the manufacturer is synthetic, with a default viscosity of 0W20, which is what GM suggests for optimal performance. However, using 5W20 oil is also acceptable and will not void the warranty. Purchasing the necessary oil will cost you around $60, not including the oil filter. Opting for the popular WIX (WL 10255-EA) filter will add another $10 to the total cost.
The 2016 GMC Yukon has a total oil capacity of 8 quarts when the oil is changed or when it is in need of a refill.
