In 2003, all versions of the Honda Pilot were equipped with a 3.5 L V6 engine as standard, with no alternative engine choices offered for that year. The engine has an oil capacity of 5.1 US quarts with the filter and 4.6 US quarts without. It requires 5W-20 synthetic oil. While Honda offers their own brand of oil, it is not mandatory to use. The oil should be replaced every 7,500 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first.
The Pilot requires 5.1 quarts of oil, along with the filter, when getting an oil change. The recommended oil type is 5W-30.
