To swap out the brake master cylinder on a 2007 Ford Focus, start by lifting the hood to locate the cylinder, typically situated on the driver's side firewall. Look for two to four brake lines connected to the main body of the cylinder, along with a small wiring connector linked to the brake fluid reservoir. Before removing the cylinder, it's recommended to eliminate as much old brake fluid as possible to prevent spills. Open the fluid reservoir cap, use a turkey baster to extract the fluid, and then secure the cap back on. Unclip the electrical connector's safety latch and carefully disconnect it from the fluid level sensor in the reservoir.
