The 2009 Lexus ES350 features a timing chain instead of a timing belt. In fact, Lexus has been using the chain in their vehicles since 2007 up to the present year. One significant advantage of a timing chain over a timing belt is that the chain usually does not need maintenance, while the belt needs to be replaced regularly. For a vehicle with a timing belt, it typically requires replacement every 60,000 to 100,000 miles. However, for a vehicle equipped with a timing chain like the ES350, you only need to inspect it every 150,000 miles or so. If the chain does develop issues, you will hear unusual noises and experience timing problems. To check the chain, simply examine the tension and look at the sprockets.
