Just like other electronic systems in your 2005 Honda CR-V, the cruise control also has a fuse that safeguards the system by blowing in case of a short circuit. If this fuse blows, the cruise control will cease to work entirely. Additionally, the cruise control is connected to the brake pedal switch, which activates the brake lights when the brake pedal is pressed. The cruise control is programmed to disengage when the brake pedal is tapped, so if the brake pedal switch malfunctions, the system may mistakenly believe the brakes are engaged and prevent the cruise control from activating.
If the brake on a 2005 Honda CRV is not fully engaged, the cruise control will not activate.
