Lexus suggests using premium unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 91 or above for your IS300 to optimize its performance and power. It is advisable to consistently fill up with higher octane fuel as it burns more thoroughly in your engine, potentially reducing carbon buildup and preventing engine knocking. Some gasolines labeled as top tier contain detergents and additives to assist in cleaning the engine and maintaining a sludge-free condition for a longer period.
Given the current high gas prices of $6 per gallon, would it be possible to use regular 87 octane fuel in my Chevrolet Impala 300 instead of the more expensive gas? Thank you.
The Lexus IS 300 IS Premium requires 91 octane gasoline for fuel.
You gotta use premium gas because of the strong compression in the engine. If you don't use a higher octane rating, you might end up with early combustion in the cylinder, which could lead to serious problems.
