The gear shift in the 2017 Honda CR-V is not subject to a recall, although there has been a recognized issue with it. While the problem may not have warranted a recall, if it begins to malfunction, you will be responsible for covering the repair costs on your own.
No way. Today while driving in a parking lot, my gearshift broke off... It was really unsafe. The folks at Honda mentioned they've been aware of this issue for a while - However, it's not classified as a safety recall, just a "product upgrade", so they don't inform 2017-2018 CRV owners unless they bring it in for a fix. I'm furious. It's a major safety concern. I reached out to a product liability lawyer today. This issue needs to be addressed and resolved.

Yesterday, our car's button malfunctioned while we were skiing in Maine. We were unable to shift gears, causing frustration. After some struggle, we managed to drive to a gas station, where we discovered the broken button. We had to keep the car in neutral to shift into drive or reverse. Eventually, the button fell out completely, but we somehow got it back in place so we could drive back to Massachusetts. This seems like a safety concern that should be recalled. Hopefully, Honda addresses this issue promptly for everyone's safety.
Today, I experienced this situation where a button fell off. Fortunately, I can still reattach the button to the hole and make it function, although it is not firmly secure.

Honda is being dishonest. If they are aware of the problem, they should offer a free replacement. We didn't misuse the button to cause it to break.
While I was driving, I suddenly saw a button had slipped into the seat. I was like, "What is this?" Oh no, it was the shift button from the Gear Shift, and it had broken off. That's so unsafe... I totally think there should be a product recall for this.
My car suddenly stopped working yesterday while I was driving with my grandchildren. I had trouble putting it in park. Thankfully, this happened in my driveway. When I contacted the dealership, they informed me that there was a recall for this issue. Surprisingly, I never received any notice about it, and I felt it posed a safety risk. I plan to bring in my car on Monday to get it repaired.
Certainly! So, you're telling me that the Honda dealership will provide a replacement for the broken part but will also charge you $100 for that service?! Unbelievable!
I just had a similar experience happen to me, thankfully it occurred while I was parking in the garage (By the way, this happened in South Africa).
