In an effort to cut weight and likely save money, the 2019 Toyota Prius doesn't come with a spare tire. Instead, Toyota provides a "fixA flat" kit, which disappoints many drivers. While it's better than nothing, it doesn't offer the security and reliability of having a full-size spare or even a donut. Some drivers opt to keep a spare sized 125/80 or 125/70 in their cargo area. If you're in the market, you have options; you'll have to shop around for the best deal or the best fit, but you can usually find a mounted tire with a compatible wheel for under $250. Another option is getting a full-size P195/65R15 to match your current tires, but that might be excessive.

The 2019 Prius Prime doesn't include a spare tire due to needing space for extra batteries to support the Full EV mode. I enjoy driving in EV mode most of the time, but for long journeys, using the hybrid mode is convenient. However, not having a spare tire does concern me. I ran into a nail in one tire recently, thankfully close to home and a dealership. Now, I'm on the hunt for a spare tire to bring along on road trips.
