The Mitsubishi Montero Sport is equipped with a timing belt which can lead to various engine issues. If you notice a loose gasket, it should be promptly tightened. Address any oil leaks immediately to prevent further damage. Be vigilant for spark plug issues as a loose plug can cause engine problems. Overheating is a serious concern that could result in fires or even an explosion. Watch out for excessive oil consumption, and ensure timely oil changes. Remember to replace the air filter every 15,000 to 30,000 miles, change the coolant every 60,000 miles, and swap out the spark plugs roughly every 100,000 miles unless using a copper one, which should be replaced every 30,000 miles.
The Mitsubishi Montero comes with a timing belt, not a timing chain.
