As the proud owner of a 2006 Ford Mustang, you might have heard some talk about issues with the fuel gauge in your car. There have been various complaints about the 2005 and 2006 models. Most drivers of these vehicles have noticed that the fuel gauge doesn't show a full tank even after filling up, or it shows empty right after refueling. This problem is mainly caused by a faulty fuel sender card or loose/worn connectors at the sender. If you need to replace the sender, you can anticipate spending between $48 and $92 on parts alone.
Sometimes, the fuel gauge in a 2006 Mustang may incorrectly show the tank as empty even when it's actually full. This problem could be due to a malfunctioning wiring system.
I have a 2006 Mustang GT with a fuel gauge issue - it constantly shows empty even though there's gas in the tank. If I turn off the car and restart it, the gauge then displays the correct level. Recently, the check engine light came on, so I took it to Quick Lane at Ourisman Ford. They want to charge $1500 to replace the fuel pumps, sensors, and o-rings. The car is practically new, with only 19000 miles on it, and I only drive it about 500 miles per year when I want to have some fun. I'm not sure what to do next, so I'm thinking of trying a bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner instead.
