Ford Mustang owners have taken legal action by filing a class-action lawsuit, claiming that the SRX-speed manual transmission used in 2011-2019 Mustang and Mustang GT cars is faulty. Ford has known about this issue since 2010 and has sent multiple service bulletins to dealerships on how to address it. The problematic transmissions noted were the MT82 and MT82-D4 models. Even after attempting repairs or replacements, the transmission issues persist, with reported problems such as slipping, jerking, gear clashing, harsh engagement, premature wear, difficult shifting, driveability issues, and eventual catastrophic failure.
Known issues with newer models of the Ford Mustang GT with manual transmission include issues when driving at high speeds, gears not shifting smoothly, and problems with the bolts on the clutch plate. To address these issues, it is recommended to swap out the gear shift assembly and any affected clutch parts.
