If you suspect that your Ford F-350 is having issues with the alternator and you have already confirmed that the battery is not the problem, the next step is to inspect the wire connection between the battery and the thick wire on the alternator. Make sure to clean any corrosion on the battery terminals. When checking the voltage from the alternator using a multimeter, it should measure between 13.5v to 14v. If it falls within this range, the issue is likely with another part and not the alternator. However, if the voltage is not in the correct range, it's possible that the power regulator in the alternator is failing. In this case, you may need to replace the entire unit, but you can often find a good deal at a junkyard or on eBay for a lower price than buying new.
Some Ford F-350 owners have reported that the alternator struggles to maintain a charge. This issue is well-known for draining the battery, leading to insufficient power to start the vehicle.
