The volume of the trunk and storage space in the 2014 Subaru Forester ranges from 31.5 to 34.4 cubic feet with the seats up, and 68.5 to 74.7 cubic feet with the seats folded down. There's a small opening in the vehicle's floor that you can lift up, revealing a hidden compartment where the seats can be folded down. To fold the seats, simply pull the lever on the side of the seats to release them, then push them down into the compartment and lock them into place – you'll hear a click when they're secure. Reversing this process to raise the seats back up should only take a minute or two to complete.
In 2014, the Subaru Forester comes with various trims that offer different cargo capacities. The 2.5i and 2.5i Premium models provide a rear cargo area of 34.4 cubic feet, which can expand to 74.7 cubic feet when the seats are also taken into account. On the other hand, the other trims have a cargo space of 31.5 cubic feet behind the seats, with a total cargo volume of 68.5 cubic feet.
