If you need to empty the gas tank on a Ford Ranger, it's a straightforward procedure. First, disconnect the fuel lines from the filter underneath the truck. Then, you can connect a jumper wire between fuses S87 and 30 to activate the fuel pump and empty the tank completely. To remove any sediment, lower the fuel tank and clean it thoroughly through the top opening. It's advisable to drain your fuel system if you anticipate leaving your truck unused for an extended period of time.
Install a fresh fuel filter, connect it, and start the vehicle. Observe as the fluid gradually empties out.
