To reset the anti-theft system on your 2007 Chevy Cobalt, you will need your key. If you don't have it, you'll have to obtain a replacement and program it for your car. If you have the key, insert it into the ignition and leave it in the ON position for 10 minutes. When the 10 minutes are over, a blinking light will indicate that it's time to turn the key back to the off position. Once you complete this step, you should be able to start your vehicle as usual.
To deactivate the theft prevention system in a 2007 Chevy Cobalt, start by using the key fob to unlock the door. Once inside, press the door lock button on the door panel and shut the doors.
I drive a 2000 Chevy Cobalt with a 2.2 L engine. One morning, after grabbing coffee, I realized I had forgotten something. When I returned to the car to head to the store, I turned the key but only saw the anti-theft system light and the battery light come on. I tried reprogramming the key, repeating the process twice, which ended up draining my battery. When I turned the key, I heard a single click and saw the battery light along with the solid anti-theft light. After some research, I disconnected the battery in the trunk and unscrewed the lead battery post under the hood that connects to the fuse panel. I cleaned the connections on both sides of the eyelets and the bottom of the post. After putting everything back together and tightening it, the car started right up unexpectedly. I'm not sure why the anti-theft light came on, but the significant corrosion on my connections may have played a role. Disconnecting the battery could have also reset the Engine Control Unit (ECU). Hopefully, this information helps those facing similar issues with this vehicle.
The anti-theft light is on and the engine is not starting. What steps should I take to resolve this issue? Your prompt assistance is greatly appreciated.
I have a 2007 Cobalt that has been running well. I parked it and turned off the engine, but when I tried to start it later, it cranked weakly and didn't ignite. I'm not sure what the issue could be - it was the first sign that something was wrong.
