In a 2018 Chevy Silverado, the oil light is a reminder to schedule an oil change. Typically, a mechanic or dealership would reset this light post-service. However, if they forget or if you prefer to change the oil yourself, you can reset the light manually. To do so, turn the vehicle to on without starting the engine, then quickly press the gas pedal to the floor three times. Navigate to the oil life menu on the dashboard, move to the right arrow, and press OK to reset the life indicator. The light on the dashboard should go off, allowing you to start the truck as usual.
Navigate to the oil maintenance menu, use the right arrow button to scroll over, and then choose the reset option.
Switch the ignition to the on position without actually starting the engine, and then rapidly tap the accelerator pedal up and down three times.
