The frequent issue faced by GMC Sierra owners with the ten-speed transmission is its tendency to hunt for the right gear. With ten gears, the truck continuously seeks the optimal gear to balance acceleration and fuel efficiency, which can make it feel like it's searching for the perfect gear constantly. Additionally, some users experience delays in downshifting when accelerating, requiring them to manually switch to lower gears for quicker acceleration, as the transmission may take its time to shift down multiple gears to deliver maximum torque.

The issues with the 10-speed transmission in the 2019 GMC Sierra involve difficulty shifting gears and a loss of acceleration due to improper shifting.

I must have lucked out with my truck, a 2021 Elevation 5.3 with a 10-speed transmission. It shifts smoothly and accelerates like a rocket. When I need to pass, I push on the gas from 90 km/h and it quickly reaches 160 km/h. However, if I push it hard and then suddenly need to slow down for a turn, it may seem like it's struggling to find the right gear. In reality, it's just that I demanded a lot from it and it needs more RPM to shift up. If I ease off the gas gradually, everything works fine. It's not a transmission issue, but rather my driving style. I wouldn't buy another truck without this feature.

Hey Mike, you're not the only one who scored a nice 10-speed. I drive a 2019 Sierra SLT with a 6.2L engine and 10-speed transmission. The engine and transmission work like a charm together. I haven't encountered any issues yet, and passing, merging, and towing are smooth sailing.

I bought a 2020 1500 with only one previous owner who maintained it well. The truck now has 135,000 miles and recently started experiencing transmission issues, specifically a shuddering sensation that began 10 days ago. The dealership says it needs a new transmission, despite the fact that the truck has only been lightly driven and never used for towing. The transmission is only 3 years old. I'm currently in the process of reaching out to the dealer or the manufacturer to resolve the problem. If anyone has faced a similar issue, I would appreciate any advice or insights.
