One common issue with power windows in vehicles is the potential failure of the window drive motor, which is a widespread problem not unique to the Subaru Legacy. However, the S-Class category of cars appears to have more frequent issues with the lock switch module failing compared to other models. Some drivers have also reported that the power windows may lose their automatic up/down feature. If you experience this problem, you can try the following steps to resolve it: First, close the driver's door and insert your key into the ignition, turning it to the ON position. Then, partially open the driver's side window by pressing the power window switch down. Finally, continue to push up on the power window switch until the window is fully closed, making sure to hold the switch up for an additional 5 seconds after the window has completely shut. By following these steps, you may be able to fix the automatic up/down issue.
The power window issues in Subaru Legacy cars have been widespread, largely stemming from problems with the window lock switch module failing and a power connection problem with the window door lock actuator.
