The main issues you might encounter with the Jeep Renegade's sky roof typically revolve around motor failure. When the motor malfunctions, the sky roof can become immobile, potentially getting stuck either open or closed. If you find the sky roof not operating, start by checking the fuses in the assembly. If these are blown, they will need to be swapped out for new ones to restore function. If it's the motor that's the problem, I suggest taking the vehicle to a dealership for a replacement.
A jammed sunroof poses an issue on the 2015 Jeep Renegade.
In my 2020 Renegade, the sunroof wouldn't close properly. I took it to the dealership immediately for suggestions. The motor was trying to close the roof but seemed jammed, possibly due to a sensor or physical obstruction on the track. After checking and lubricating every part of the track, manually assisting the motor by pulling the roof led to it finally closing as it should. Now, I'm hesitant to use the button or even open the vent, let alone remove the panels. Dealing with the sunroof, known as My Sky, has been a major disappointment from Jeep (aside from the spare tire replacement with foam).
