The primary reason why an Audi A4 B7 might develop an oil leak from the vacuum pump is typically due to a faulty vacuum pump o-ring. This issue is quite prevalent among B7 models, even though Audi has not issued a technical service bulletin addressing it. Alternatively, it is also possible that the entire pump has malfunctioned and is causing the leak, which would require a replacement. Many drivers opt to replace the entire vacuum pump when faced with this problem. However, I suggest trying the o-ring replacement first as it could save you several hundred dollars. If this solution does not resolve the problem, you may still need to spend the extra money on a replacement pump along with a bit more effort.
If there is a problem with a vacuum leak in your audi a4 b7, you may notice the check engine light coming on, the engine idling roughly, stalling, and a hissing noise emanating from the engine compartment. This issue typically results from a crack or damage to the pump.
