If the power running boards on your 2016 Cadillac Escalade are not functioning, a simple way to address this is to reset them. There is a small disable switch located beneath the HVAC climate control system in the middle of the dashboard that allows you to turn the system on or off. In cases where the running boards are stuck in the up or down position, such as after a dead battery or other issues, you can resolve this without going to a mechanic or using a scan tool. Start by opening all the front and rear doors and engaging the parking brake. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position, and without starting the engine, toggle the disable switch three times within 20 seconds. Close all the doors, then open either the left front or left rear door to see the left side board extend. Close the door, and the board should retract. Repeat this test on the right side, and your power running boards should now be operational.

Simply press and hold this button for 5 seconds. This simple action resolved the issue for me!

In 2015, my Escalade had a switch located at the top button on the left side of the main display in the middle of the car.
