The cause of the clicking noise in your 2012 Dodge Avenger can vary depending on when and where you hear it. As an owner of a '12 Avenger myself (specifically the SXT Plus trim), I have experienced one of the most common fixes you may need to address. A clicking noise behind the dashboard could be due to a malfunctioning blend door actuator. This occurs because the actuator contains fragile plastic gears that are prone to breaking. Despite the gears attempting to turn, they only produce a loud clicking sound. If you suspect that this is not the issue, other possibilities to consider include lifter noise from the engine, subtle engine knocking (which may resemble a click), or a different source altogether.
If you hear a clicking sound coming from beneath the dashboard in your 2012 Dodge Avenger, it could be the body control module powering on or a malfunctioning actuator.
