The primary reason for water pump noise in a 2014 Chevy Cruze is typically failing bearings. The water pump is internally lubricated by the coolant it circulates. If an unsuitable coolant is used - one not recommended by the manufacturer or excessively diluted with water beyond 40% - it may not adequately lubricate the water pump, leading to premature bearing wear. Consequently, when the bearings fail, they can create a squealing noise as they rub against the bearing housing. Once the pump starts squealing, it cannot be repaired and must be replaced. Alternatively, noise from the water pump may also stem from failing pulley bearings, which can be replaced, but it might be more cost-effective to replace the entire water pump.
If there's a problem with the water pump in a 2014 Chevy Cruze, it can result in coolant leakage and accumulation at the front of the car, which may lead to rust entering the system. Losing too much coolant can cause the engine to overheat. The leak is probably due to the shaft seal failing or the impeller becoming worn and detached. When coolant is leaking, a gurgling or sloshing noise can be heard.
