There are several reasons why the brake lights in a Kia Sorento may not be working. The first thing I would recommend checking is the bulb itself, as this is the most common cause for them to not illuminate and is also the most affordable to fix. To replace the bulb, you will need a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the two screws securing the lens cover. Once the cover is off, pull out the old bulb and insert a new 6418 bulb, making sure it is fully seated. After replacing the bulb, reattach the lens cover. This is also a good opportunity to replace the other license plate bulb. If changing the bulbs doesn't solve the issue, inspect the fuse box for a blown fuse or consider a potential wiring problem.
Similar to other outdoor lights on your Kia Sorento car, the license plate lights might fail to function properly in the event that their bulbs, relay switches, or wiring harness require replacement.
