There are a couple of reasons why your Volkswagen Tiguan's key fob may have suddenly stopped functioning. The most frequent cause, and also the easiest to resolve, is a depleted battery. To remedy this, you will have to open the fob and insert a new battery. Another possible reason could be internal damage to the fob, as it depends on receiver and transmitter data to operate. If there is any damage to these components, such as faulty wiring, the fob will not work and will need to be replaced. If you have replaced the battery and are still encountering issues, the fob may need to be reprogrammed, which can be done without the need for any special tools. Less common factors that could be causing the problem include issues with the door locks or ignition cylinder.

The primary concerns with the keyless entry system of the Volkswagen Tiguan and its key fob involve the key fob's battery dying and the key fob losing its pairing with the vehicle.
