If the fan on your Chevy Traverse isn't turning on to cool the engine, there are a few potential causes to consider. One common issue could be a blown fuse for the fan, which can be remedied by replacing it. However, in many cases, the problem lies with faulty electrical wiring or the fan's wiring harness, which can cause the fuse to blow. Simply changing the fuse might only provide a temporary solution. Another possible culprit could be a malfunctioning engine temperature sensor. A bad sensor may prevent the Traverse's ECU from receiving the necessary information to activate the radiator. Additionally, low coolant levels could also disrupt the fan's functioning. Insufficient coolant levels may not trigger the sensor, resulting in lower temperature readings that prevent the radiator from kicking in.
The cooling fan in your traverse won't turn on. If you're low on refrigerant, don't top it up until the engine has cooled down. Adding coolant to a dry radiator that won't trigger the engine temperature sensor could lead to issues due to sudden temperature changes. So, give it a chance to cool off first.
