A recent settlement has been announced for owners of Ford Fiesta and Focus models equipped with the problematic PowerShift automatic transmission. Under this agreement, owners may be eligible to have their vehicles bought back by Ford and receive cash compensation. Depending on the number of times the vehicle has been serviced or repaired for transmission issues, owners could potentially receive up to $22,000 for selling their car back to Ford. Additionally, they may be entitled to receive up to $250 in cash compensation for any inconvenience caused. In most states, owners must have undergone three to four transmission repair attempts to qualify for these benefits. The PowerShift transmission is a six-speed dual-clutch automatic, and common complaints about the gearbox include stumbling, shuddering, rough shifts, hesitation, and premature wear. Many affected vehicles have undergone multiple transmission repairs or had their entire transmission replaced.
