The 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe requires 5.7 liters of oil. To change the oil in the car, be sure to let the vehicle cool down for a couple of hours after it has been parked and turned off. This is important to avoid burning yourself on the hot oil. Locate the oil pan and drain plug under the engine. Place a bucket below the plug, remove it, and let the oil drain fully, which may take about an hour. Once it has stopped dripping, replace the drain plug. Next, find the intake port on top of the oil pan and use a funnel to fill the pan with oil up to the full mark. Be careful not to overfill, as this can cause leaks and oil burning. Close the port tightly, clean up any spilled oil, and the oil change is complete.
In 2008, the Chevrolet Tahoe requires 6 US quarts (5.7 liters) of oil. A helpful feature is the vehicle information button on the Tahoe that can be used to check the oil life. Simply press the vehicle information button until "OIL LIFE REMAINING" is displayed to see the remaining useful life of the oil. For instance, if it shows 99% OIL LIFE REMAINING, it means that 99% of the current oil life is left. The engine oil life system will notify you when it's time to change the oil based on your driving conditions.
