In 2018, the Hyundai Sonata offered a choice of three engines: a base 1.6L 4-cylinder, an optional 2.0L 4-cylinder, and a second optional 2.4L 4-cylinder. The standard engine requires 4.8 US quarts of oil, the 2.0L needs 4.3 US quarts, and the 2.4L requires 5.1 US quarts, all including the filter. Regardless of the engine, they all need to use 5W-20 synthetic motor oil and should have their oil changed every 7,500 to 10,000 miles.
