For the 2015 Chevrolet Sonic, a timing belt replacement typically costs between $450 and $625. General Motors advises getting this service done every 97,500 miles to address regular wear and tear. If you're experiencing issues with your timing belt, or if you drive aggressively, you might need to replace it sooner. While you could save some money by doing the job yourself for around $350 in parts, it's not an easy task. I previously replaced the timing belt on my girlfriend's 2012 Sonic and I don't recommend doing it yourself. It might be worth paying the extra $150 to have a mechanic handle it, as it can be quite challenging.
