The red warning light on the driver's information dash of a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 signals a potential issue with the battery. This light, which is a "security malfunction" warning, can flash and cause other electrical components, gauges, and lights in the truck to stop working. To fix this, you can either charge the existing battery or replace it with a new one. After charging or changing the battery, disconnect the battery cables for at least 15 minutes, but up to an hour, before reconnecting them. Once you do this, the Ram should start and operate normally. If the red light comes on due to a driver mistake, like leaving a door open while reversing, it can drain the battery within 15 minutes.
